Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President Aman Arora on Thursday came down heavily on BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa after he criticised the encounter of gangsters who were involved in the killing of Abohar textile businessman Sanjay Verma. Aman Arora lambasted Sirsa and accused the BJP of supporting and shielding gangsters.
Arora took to his X handle and wrote, "(Translated version) Absolutely shameful… BJP’s love for gangsters has come to light. While the entire Punjab stands with Sanjay Verma’s family, Manjinder Singh Sirsa’s open support for gangsters today proves that the BJP is shielding them through the central jails"
Notably, businessman Sanjay Verma's brother, who was heartbroken and in tears, said, "I don’t understand what kind of security this Central Government is talking about. What are they keeping these criminals for in Indian jails? Traders pay taxes to the Indian government. What do they get in return? Nothing but fear and insecurity. The government should collect taxes from these gangsters instead. The public only asks for two things, justice and security."
Notably, the BJP Punjab President, Sunil Jakhar, had also met Sanjay Verma's brother.
For the unversed, Sanjay Verma, who was known as the 'Kurta-Pajama' king of Punjab, was shot dead outside his showroom in Abohar. Later, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility. Thereafter, the Punjab Police shot dead two accused in the case during an encounter. The encounter broke out during the murder weapon recovery when the accused opened fire on the Police.
Sirsa has called for a CBI probe into the killing of two accused in the Sanjay Verma murder case during an alleged exchange of fire with police. Sirsa, rejecting the official version of events, alleged that the AAP government was using the incident to deflect public attention.
