The first ‘No Beijing 2022 Global Day of Action” is scheduled to take place on Olympic Day. More than 150 right groups would participate in this protest.

The protest would be demonstrated and planned by Tibetan, Uyghur, Hongkonger, Chinese, Taiwanese and Southern Mongolian representatives and allies. According to the event managers, these protests are planned for Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, India, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, England, Scotland, the United States, Canada, Mexico and Argentina.

Canberra, the capital city of Australia is all set to stage the first-ever protest, which would be held in at least 50 cities from around 25 countries.

A statement in an English news network read, “Thousands of frontline community representatives and allies will stand together around the world to deliver the joint message that China must not be allowed to use Beijing 2022 to sport-wash the genocide against the Uyghur people, the severe and escalating repression.

Protests will target Governments, National Olympic Committees and Associations and Olympic sponsors urging them to take a stand against one of the worst human rights crises of our time by boycotting the 2022 Beijing Winter Games.”

Amid the growing calls for boycotting Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, former US President Donald Trump said that he doesn’t agree with the same and the United State must go, compete and win the game.

Donald Trump stated, “It would be "unfair to the athletes" to boycott the games, and countries around the world would see it as "sour grapes," Trump said in an interview, The Hill reported adding "I see it both ways. But I would not do that, you go, you compete, you win.”

The coalition of Human Rights Groups has called the countries to boycott the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics because of the abuses made by China against Uyghur Muslims, Tibetans and Hong Kong.

It said, “We call on all governments and people, including all National Olympic Committees and Olympic athletes, to boycott the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

The Chinese government is committing genocide against the Uyghur people and waging an unprecedented campaign of repression in East Turkistan, Tibet and Southern Mongolia, as well as an all-out assault on democracy in Hong Kong.”

Earlier this year, more than 200 global groups signed an open letter. In the open letter, the countries urged the chocolate bar brand ‘Snickers’ to immediately cancel its sponsorship of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.

The letter was signed by the executive director of the International Tibet Network, Mandie McKeown, on the behalf of the coalition of human rights campaign groups.

In January, a similar campaign was launched against fellow sponsor Airbnb.
