Netizens on Twitter are beginning to react to news of Airtelawarding contract to Huawei.
Huawei was in the eye of the storm in the United States alsofor privacy concerns.
The original article was published on Telecom page of TheEconomic times titled, “Huawei bags Rs 300 crore network contract from BhartiAirtel”.
Brahma Chellaney, a published author and strategic thinkeron international relations, tweeted, “India is a major target of China'scyberwar. Huawei's foreign spying occurs through technological"backdoors" intended for use by local law enforcement. Yet India'sAirtel, not content with letting Huawei run its long-distance network, handsHuawei a fresh contract for expansion.”
Indians seem to like the rationale and thus this hashtagbegan to be mentioned in tweets and thus the hashtag become trending.
Most netizens are following the herd and complaining againstAirtel with a side hashtag of #BoycottAirtel also being created and used.
It is worth remembering that Boycott hashtags are a popularpastime of Indians with the same being targeted at a jewellery store somemonths ago.
Still, some people are offering sane explanations that anybusiness will always keep money its priority and if quality and quantity can bearranged at a cheap price, then the company providing the same will get thecontract.
The question to ask is whether the netizens who agree with #BoycottAirtelwill get their mobile, broadband, and TV connections disconnected and shiftedto another provider?
