The first death in the US due to the Omicron variant of
Corona Virus has taken place. This incident occurred in Texas, America. The
Health Department of the state apprised that this person had not taken even a
single dose of the COVID vaccine. The age of the deceased was between 50-60
years.
The number of people infected with the Omicron variant of
COVID has been increasing incessantly in America. As per the reports of the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,73.2 % of the Covid were from the
Omicron variant during the last week in America. In the areas of Northwest,
South, and Midwest, the figure has climbed up to 90%.
In the US, over 6,50,000 cases of Omicron were found
during the last week as shown by the current rate of national infection.
Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska are also reporting more cases of the new
variant.
Even after the imposition of restriction in many areas of
the US, the number of COVID-19 infections is increasing in the state. In this
view, a decision has been taken to further tighten the restrictions in many
areas of the US. However, Joe Biden is not in a position to impose a lockdown
in the country presently. The President of the US, Joe Biden is known to
address the nation regarding COVID-19 on Tuesday.

This first case of Omicron was found in South Africa in
November. WHO (World Health Organisation) has labeled it as a ‘Variant of
Concern’. Since then, it has spread to several countries. As per some
preliminary data, Omicron is more contagious than Delta but is considered less
fatal than the latter.
