Jalandhar, May 6
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has announced that a blackout drill will be conducted in the cantonment area of Jalandhar tonight, May 6, from 8 pm to 9 pm, and across the entire Jalandhar district tomorrow, May 7, during the same hours. The exercise is part of the Government of India’s civil defense preparedness program, aimed at ensuring readiness in case of any emergency.
Dr. Aggarwal assured residents that there is no need to panic as this is a mock exercise designed to simulate an emergency situation. During the blackout, all lights in the affected areas will be switched off. Residents are requested to turn off their inverters and generators. If necessary to keep them on, they are urged to ensure that no light is visible outside, especially through windows and doors.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed that CCTV cameras with automatic lights should be turned off, and drivers on the road during the drill should turn off vehicle lights and park safely in dark, off-road locations.
Dr. Aggarwal urged the public to cooperate fully and reassured everyone that this is a routine safety drill and not a cause for concern or alarm.
