After the petrol industry, the telecom industry is next in line for a rate hike. Where Airtel and Vodafone- Idea have already introduced updated prices, Jio has announced that its Talktime charges will increase on December 1.


The tariff hike comes almost two years after the last one. Bharti Airtel, India's second-largest service provider, has decided to raise the price of all of its pre-paid plans by up to 25%. Then came Vodafone Idea, which announced an increase in pre-paid package rates as well.

Reliance Jio raised the prices of its talktime and data plans for its prepaid customers by 21 percent on Sunday.

The move, however, did not go down well with the customers and #BoycottJioVodaAirtel trends on Twitter. The social media platform is flooded with memes and tweets by angered netizens.

Airtel updated prepaid recharge plans 2021:

As per the hike, the Rs 79 voice plan now costs Rs 99 and offer “50 percent more talk time worth ₹99, 200 MB data, and 1p/sec voice tariff”.

The base plan now costs ₹99, up from the current price of ₹79. The popular ₹598 plan will now cost users ₹719, an increase of ₹121. The price of the annual plan has been increased by over ₹500 and will now cost ₹2,999.

Vodafone-Idea updated prepaid recharge plans 2021:

Vodafone Idea raised tariffs for its prepaid users by around 20 per cent.

Unlimited voice plans now cost Rs 179 instead of Rs 149, and a number of other plans have seen price increases as well, all the way up to the Rs 2,399 annual plan, which is now Rs 2,899.

Jio updated prepaid recharge plans 2021:

After Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, telecom major Reliance Jio said it would raise tariffs for its prepaid users by around 21 per cent. The revised tariffs will come into effect from December 1, the telecom major said.

According to the revised tariffs, the JioPhone Plan, which previously cost Rs 75 for 28 days, will now cost Rs 91, and the Rs-129 voice and data plan will now cost Rs 155 for 28 days.
