Canadian PM plans to announce snap election

Trudeau aides have said that elections will be held by the end of 2021, two years prior to its schedule.

Sources have confirmed that Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has been planning to take snap elections by the end of this year. A formal announcement about the same will be made on Sunday. 

Trudeau has a minority government and has to rely on the opposition party to push through legislation. The aides of Trudeau have been saying for months that the ruling Liberals will be pushing the voting before the end of this year. 

This will make the elections two years prior to its original schedule. Canada is one of the few countries which has the most vaccination rate and has been handling the pandemic situation well. 

Keeping in mind that the country is almost drowned in debt while helping its people to regain momentum to protect the economy of the country from COVID-19.

In order to pass the decision of conducting the elections later this year, Trudeau will have to visit Governor-General Mary Simon who is the personal representative of the head of the state Queen Elizabeth. 

Trudeau will be making the above-mentioned visit on the 15th of August as per the information that was given by the sources. Trudeau came to power in the year 2015 with a majority of 338 seats.

Although in 2019 Justin was reduced to a minority after a controversy surfaced of him wearing blackface. The opposition party has agreed on the decision and have stated that this is much needed as the country is expecting to be hit by a third wave soon. According to research, the growth of the country is said to rebound in the third quarter.
