Despite Congress high commands efforts and a major change in Punjab’s guard, the infighting continues. On Wednesday former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh launched a political attack against his arch-rival PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and his allies. Now, replying to Capt’s statement, former minister Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa has made strong statements, saying Capt has “lost his mental balance.”
“When a Sarpanch loses his post he loses his mental balance and Capt Amarinder has lost CM’s chair,” said Bajwa on Thursday. Countering every allegation by Amarinder Singh, Bajwa said “his own actions will decide his political future. Capt should clarify whether he’ll leave Congress and field a strong contender against Sidhu or he’ll stay in party and fight.”
Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday had said, “If Sidhu behaves as super CM, Punjab Congress won't function. Under this drama master’s leadership, it would be a big thing if the party manages to touch double digits in Punjab polls.”
Replying to Capt, Mr Bajwa said that “he has misinterpreted the situation. Everything depends on the people of Punjab.” Bajwa showed full confidence in Sidhu’s leadership.

Further, Bajwa said that Capt is distressed and furious, and will say anything at this point. He also clarified that there was a problem with Capt’s leadership and he was removed for the same reason. He believes the change of guard in state will prove beneficial for Congress in upcoming 2022 Punjab assembly elections.
Countering another statement by former CM, Bajwa said Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are all grown-ups. Capt Amarinder on Wednesday said that Gandhi siblings are like his children and are “inexperienced.” He claimed, "their advisors were misguiding them".
Notably, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa was a minister in Capt Amarinder’s cabinet and was considered one of his close aides. However, for a few months, Bajwa was dissatisfied with Capt’s performance, thus joined with Sidhu’s camp and played a significant role in his removal from CM’s chair.
