The CBI inquiry into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput is still ongoing a year later. According to allegations in the media, the CBI has asked the US for assistance in recovering deleted data from the actor's email and social media accounts. Data recovery requests have also been sent to Google and Facebook.
The two countries India and America have a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, or MLAT. Both countries can ask each other for information in the investigation of domestic concerns under this agreement. The CBI wants to see if anything transpired that had anything to do with Sushant's death based on this information.

The Mumbai Police started an investigation into this issue, which is now in the hands of the CBI, but the cause of Sushant Singh's death was not revealed. Last year, on June 14, 2020, Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his room in a mysterious condition. In the first investigation, Mumbai Police called it a suicide. However, because to mounting pressure from family and fans, the Mumbai Police inquiry was transferred to Bihar Police and finally to the CBI.
SSR’ father filed case against Riya Chakraborty
Sushant Singh Rajput was depressed, according to the Mumbai Police Department's inquiry. Depression drugs were also discovered at Sushant's home, leading the Mumbai Police to believe that depression was the cause of Sushant's suicide. Following Sushant's death, his father filed a complaint against Riya Chakraborty, accusing her of murder.
