The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday swept Punjab, winning 92 of the 117 Assembly seats, in a record second to only that of an Akali Dal-BJP joint tally in 1997. AAP will now form its second government in the country after the one led by Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi.

In True Scoop’s Exclusive telephonic interview with Mr. Chander Mohan, we had a quick question answers round with him. Here are some of his interesting answers:

What do you think about the result? Did you expect it?

No, I don’t think this much was expected. Though it was quite clear that AAP will be the leading party the kind of support they have got, the kind of seats they have got I don’t think this was expected. This is a landslide victory for AAP all the established leaders are trailing at the moment. People have put their vote of no confidence against Congress, Akali Dal and all the earlier parties.

Do you think Punjab’s industry/education has hope now that AAP is in power? What will be the projected impact on the industry?

I don’t know because they are not very experienced people and this is a problem. Second problem is that Punjab’s economy is in a very bad state. We are in debt of nearly Rs. 3 lakh crore. Running Delhi is an easier option because Delhi is a rich state and Punjab is not. So it is up to AAP to see what they can do. I think it is going to be a big challenge for Bhagwant Mann and his team.

Do you think AAP will deliver its promises?

I don’t want to answer this question right now; I think we’ll have to wait now. I’m sure they have good intentions because AAP wants to expand in the country and for that, they have to prove themselves in Punjab. If they give good administration in Punjab then the Punjab Model will help them in the rest of the country. So for that now we’ll have to wait because as I said Bhagwant Mann and his team will not be very experienced people and secondly the state is in a very bad state, it’s a huge challenge for them.
