CM Bhagwant Mann slams Centre’s Chandigarh move; says, “Punjab will fight for its rights”

Mr Mann accused the central government of violating the Punjab Reorganisation Act 1966.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given his first reaction to the announcement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to give equal benefits to the employees of Chandigarh Union Territory Administration as to the employees of the Union Government.

Mr. Mann also accused the central government of violating the Punjab Reorganisation Act 1966 by bringing in officers from other states and services into the Chandigarh administration.

Taking to Twitter, Mann wrote, “Central Govt has been stepwise imposing officers and personnel from other states and services in Chandigarh administration. This goes against the letter and spirit of the Punjab Reorganisation Act 1966. Punjab will fight strongly for its rightful claim over Chandigarh…”


CM Bhagwant Mann tweeted this after, Amit Shah said on Sunday, "The retirement age of employees in the Union Territory will now go up from 58 to 60 years and women employees will now get child care leave of two years from the current one year."


Apart from this, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, in continuation of his work, today took a major decision on Ration Distribution to BPL families under PDS.

According to the CM, Punjab now will start home delivery of the Ration being distributed under the PDS Scheme. People will not have to wait for hours together to get their ration the CM said on Monday 28th March 2022.
