Congress MP from Punjab Ravneet Singh Bittu has claimed that Khalistanis are behind the violence on Republic Day. Bittu has already said that Khalistan supporters are behind the farmers protest. Bittu is an MP from the Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat. In the ongoing farmer's protest, Bittu was allegedly assaulted and he then accused the Khalistan elements behind this. A day earlier, he had said, "I went to attend a meeting called by the farmer leaders, but on reaching there, some people attacked me with sticks and weapons like guerrillas."

Bittu says that what has happened in Delhi today was planned three days in advance. He says that Khalistani leader Deep Sidhu is running his agenda from behind the farmer's protest. Bittu claimed that Deep Sandhu has also made plans for nuisance and violence on Republic Day. On the night itself, his people had captured the tractors of the farmers and entered the city. Then his people spread chaos.

Bittu has said that the government should deal with it strictly. At the same time, he has also appealed to the farmer leaders to separate themselves from such elements. On the other Sidhu rubbished such claims.

Sidhu posted a video on his Facebook saying, “We have only hoisted the Nishan Sahib flag on the Red Fort while exercising our democratic right to protest.” He said in such a protest, people’s anger flares up and you cannot blame one person for inciting the protesters. Sidhu also said that they went to Red Fort as a symbolic protest and didn’t remove the Tricolour but they hoisted the Nishan Sahib flag as a sign of “unity in diversity”.
