A team of Delhi Police Special Cell on Monday evening reached the office of micro-blogging site ‘Twitter’ to clear the air over Congress Toolkit row.

Teams of Special Cell arrived at two different offices of Twitter- one in Lado Sarai and other in Gurugram.

It may be noted here, the move of Delhi Police came within the time-frame allotted by the Centre to the social media companies to accept the new norms which were built in February this year.

The current probe is to assess how Twitter marked BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra’s tweet on a ‘Congress Toolkit’ as “manipulated media.”

In a statement, Delhi Police said, “We are probing into a complaint  to seek a clarification from Twitter regarding the classification of a tweet by Sambit Patra as ‘manipulative’.”

“It appears that Twitter has some information which is not known to us on the basis of which they have classified it as such. This information is relevant to the inquiry,” it further added.

The statement also said that Special Cell wants to find out the truth.

“Twitter which has claimed to know the underlying truth should clarify," Delhi Police said.
