Mumbai Court directs Juhu Police to probe Javed Akhtar's criminal defamation case against Kangana Ranaut

Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai has ordered a police inquiry into the criminal defamation case filed by famous writer Javed Akhtar against Kangana Ranaut. On Saturday, Akhtar's lawyer requested the court to take cognizance of the criminal defamation case. After the hearing, the court directed the Juhu police to investigate the matter and submit its report by 16 January. This order from the court came under section 202 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Akhtar had allegedly accused Kangana of falsely accusing him during a TV interview that he had threatened her to withdraw the case filed against Hrithik Roshan.

Advocate Niranjan Mundargi appearing for Akhtar submitted that Akhar's name was unnecessarily dragged into an unconnected sensitive matter while her interview pertained to the late Sushant Singh Rajput's death.

He added that during her interview with Goswami, Ranaut had allegedly commented that Akhtar was part of a "Bollywood suicide gang" who could "get away with anything".

In an interview to an entertainment website, Kangana said that Javed Akhtar had threatened her. According to Kangana, Akhtar had said that Rakesh Roshan and his family are very big people. If she does not apologize to them, they can get them put her in jail.
