COVID-19 crisis: "India is my home, it is bleeding', says Priyanka Chopra, urges people to donate

Bollywood and Hollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra, in her bit in the fight against the COVID-19 has set up a fundraiser with GiveIndia.

The actress on Thursday shared a video on Instagram and tried to highlight India's condition at an international level. In the video, Priyanka urged people to donate as much as they can to save people from coronavirus in her 'home' India. 

The actress and her husband, singer Nick Jonas have set up a fundraiser with the online donation platform, GiveIndia. In the video, Priyanka Chopra talked about the oxygen crisis, shortage of beds, deficiency of vaccines and medicines and claimed that why the global community should care about the country, her native land. 

The actress can be heard saying, "Why do we need to care? Why is it so urgent? I'm sitting in London and I'm hearing from my friends and family in India about how hospitals are at capacity, there are no rooms in ICUs, ambulances are too busy, oxygen supply is less, crematoriums having mass cremations because the volume of deaths is much".

"India is my home and it is bleeding. And we, as a global community, need to care. And I will tell you why the country needs care: Because unless everyone is safe, no one is safe. And I understand a lot of people must be angry and thinking about why we are in this place in the first place? Why is this happening? Well, we'll address that. We'll address that after we stop the urgency," she added. 

Priyanka Chopra shared the video with a lengthy caption, said that she and her husband, Nick Jonas have donated and will continue to do so.
