As Covid cases continue to remain high in the state,Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, on Wednesday ordered a totalban on political gatherings till April 30 and said that violators, includingpolitical leaders, will be booked under the Disaster Management and EpidemicsAct.

Here is the list of Covid-19 guidelines released by JalandharAdministration which would be effective till April 30:

1.All educational institutions i.e. Schools and Collegesshall remain closed but the entire teaching and non-teaching staff shallcontinue to attend on all working days.

2. All the medical and nursing colleges shall, however,continue to remain open.

3. There shall be a complete ban across the District onall political gatherings. For any gathering organized in violation of theseorders, FIRs will be registered against the organizers and participants as wellas against the owners of the venue and the tent houses under the Disaster ManagementAct and the Epidemic Diseases Act. Such venues shall be sealed for next 3 months.

4. Night Curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM on all days of the weekshall continue to remain imposed throughout the District prohibiting all thenon-essential activities. However, all the essential activities includingoperation of industry, Medical Shops, Petrol Pumps as well as ‘to and fro’ movementof passengers travelling via air, trains, buses etc. shall remain exempted fromcurfew restrictions.

5. There shall be a complete ban on all social, culturalor sports gatherings and related functions.

6. The number of guests in all weddings related ceremoniesas well as attendees in cremation/funeral functions shall remain limited to 50indoors and 100 outdoor.

7. There shall be a restriction of 50% capacity on allthe Cinemas/Theaters/ Multiplexes/ Malls etc. and not more than 10persons/customers per shop at a time, shall be allowed in a mall.

8. Grievance redressal by all the government offices shallbe preferred through virtual/ on-line modes. Public dealings be discouraged asfar as possible and allowed only where deemed unavoidable. Revenue Departmentshall also endeavour to limit appointments to public to bare minimum forexecution of Conveyance Deeds for sale and purchase of properties.

9. Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar & SSP (Rural) ,Jalandhar to ensure strict enforcement of all the extant directives ofMHA/State Government on Covid appropriate behavior including social distancingnorm of maintaining minimum 6 feet distance (2 Gaz Ki Doori), regulating crowdsin market places and public transport and imposition of penalties prescribedfor violation of Covid appropriate behavior like wearing of face masks andspitting in public places etc.

The DC Jalandhar further notified that any violations ofthe above mentioned guidelines shall invite criminal proceedings under therelevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act 2005, Epidemic Diseases Act1897 and the Indian Penal Code 1860.
