DC appeals to healthcare workers to get Covid-19 vaccine jab as Feb 25 is the last date for the inoculation

Says, after the deadline healthcare workers registered in first phase would not be able for vaccination

As last date for the first phase of the vaccination of registered healthcare workers being February 25, 2021, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today appealed to all the remaining healthcare workers to come forward to get the vaccine jab to protect their families from the ill-effects of this deadly virus.

Presiding over a review meeting here at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that as many as 35,116 healthcare and frontline workers had been registered for the first phase of the vaccination drive. He said that a total of 11370 healthcare workers out of the total registered 15435 have taken the vaccine jab by now and the deadline for the first phase of vaccination of healthcare workers is going to end on February 25, 2021.

The deputy commissioner called upon all the remaining healthcare workers to come forward in huge numbers at the vaccination centers to keep their families from infection.

Divulging more, Mr. Thori said that a total of 7626 healthcare workers have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine while 3744 others have received the second dose. Similarly, as many as 7317 frontline workers have been vaccinated in the district so far and about 49190 doses of Covid-19 vaccines were issued to our armed forces establishments in Jalandhar.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner has issued magistrate orders under section 144 of CrPC and national disaster management act to ensure the ceiling of persons in all kinds of indoor and outdoor gatherings. As per orders a cap of 100 and 200 persons has been fixed by the state government for indoor and outdoor gatherings respectively including gatherings for social, religious, sports, entertainment, educational, cultural, and other gatherings. These restrictions would be effective from March 1, 2021 to till further orders.

Similarly, Police authorities have been asked to check the implementation of Covid appropriate behavior in their jurisdictions to keep the virus spread at bay.
