Dera Baba Murad Shah Nakodar Mela from tomorrow, Trust issues new ‘MUST FOLLOW’ guidelines

The two-day mela, at the world-famous Dera Baba Murad Shah will begin from tomorrow August 19 in Nakodar, Jalandhar.

Trust appeals to the elderly and children to watch online. Devotees will get entry only on showing negative report of corona or certificate of both the doses of vaccination.

Apart from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan, this two-day festival attracts a large number of devotees from all over the world. Guidelines that Trust issues

Devotees must have a Covid negative report or a certificate for both doses of the vaccination in order to attend the fair. The devotees will only be allowed into the dera after it has been checked. Due to the corona pandemic last year, the dera was closed for devotees. People had only been able to enjoy the fair over the internet.


During the event, the management has also urged worshippers to wear masks, maintain social distance, and carry hand sanitisers.

SSP arrived to check security arrangements

The Dera Baba Murad Shah Mela attracts a huge number of devotees from around the country and overseas. Due to the fact that the fair was previously held online, the attendance may be larger this time. As a result, the police force has upgraded its security measures. SSP Naveen Singla of the Jalandhar Rural Police arrived at the dera and assessed the security situation. A security plan has been planned in order to ensure peace and security during the dera fair.


Who will perform?

According to the management, the flag ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on August 19th, the opening day of the 61st Urs Jod Mela. Following that, from 8 p.m. to midnight, there will be a qawwali programme. Famous Punjabi qawals, as well as Karamat Ali and Malerkotla people, will take part. The head of the Dera Baba Murad Shah Ji Trust, Gurdas Maan, a well-known Punjabi vocalist, will present the qawwali on August 20.
