Despite city on high alert owing to Independence Day, some unknown persons brutally murdered the son of an ASI on Saturday night near Jalandhar Cantt Railway station, while his friend was critically injured.
ASI’s son identified as Sarabjit Singh was attacked by a group of men and reportedly died on the spot whereas his friend, who was with him, was injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
As per the information, ASI's son, who was posted at PAP Jalandhar, Sarabjit Singh and his friend were going somewhere and were standing outside Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station. At that time, he got into an argument with some men and in some time argument converted into a scuffle.
During this fight, the group attacked him and his friend with a knife and other sharp objects. Sarabjit was attacked mercilessly and he died on the spot. His friend was badly injured and was hospitalized in a nearby private hospital. Currently, he is in critical condition and treatment is on.

Police reached the spot and now the investigation is underway. Different police teams have been carrying out searches to nab the miscreants.
