
Heavyrain in Himachal Pradesh's Dharamshala on Monday led to a flash flood-likesituation with washing away of roadside parked cars and partially damaginghouses, officials said.
Acloudburst also took place in Bhagsunath area and around 10 shops damaged asManjhi River swelled up following heavy rainfall, however there was no loss tohuman life.
Dharamsala,some 250 km from the state capital, recorded the precipitation of 119 mm, thehighest ever in this monsoon.
Threehouses and five shops located along a seasonal rivulet in the Gaggal area were also damaged owing to gushing of water. The damage to the property was largely owingto encroachments on rivulets, officials said.
IndiaMeteorological Department (IMD) Director Manmohan Singh said heavy to extremelyheavy rainfall was recorded at many places in Kangra district. The rainfall waswidespread in the state.
Palampurin Kangra district recorded 155 mm rain, the highest in the state, while it was48 mm in Dalhousie, 10 mm in the state capital and 55 mm in picturesque touristresort Manali.
Theweather bureau has forecast heavy rain at isolated places in the state tillWednesday.
Thesouthwest monsoon arrived in Himachal Pradesh on June 13, in its earliest onsetin the past 21 years. Its normal arrival in the state is June 26. Since itsarrival the hill state largely saw dominant rains.
