Ex WWE Wrestler Melissa Coates 'Super Genie’ dies aged 50 after leg amputation

Melissa Coates, popularly known as Super Genie, a former WWE wrestler, died on June 23 for unclear circumstances. Last year, the 50-year-old former wrestler had her leg amputated to prevent blood clots from blocking her arteries.

Coates is best recognised for her work in IMPACT Wrestling and other promotions as an on-screen manager for ECW legend Sabu.

Melissa Coates made her pro wrestling debut in 2002 after a brief career as a bodybuilder and fitness model.

She was a member of the Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental region when she joined WWE in 2005.

Coates began her connection with Sabu in 2014, and she has since featured as the ECW veteran's Super Genie on multiple times in IMPACT Wrestling.

Following a generally successful few years, Melissa Coates had to have her left leg amputated due to life-threatening injuries in 2020.

To aid with her mounting medical expenditures, the IMPACT Wrestling veteran created a GoFundMe page.

Many anxious fans approached Coates with money over the next three months.

Her unexpected demise shocked her former colleagues from all across the wrestling world.


Known in the ring as ‘Super Genie’ and ‘Mile High Melissa’, among other names, the former bodybuilder’s cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
