IND vs NZ T20I Series: Know How Fans Reacted After Rohit Sharma Named Indian Captain

Fans reacted positively to Rohit Sharma's appointment as India's T20I captain for the series against New Zealand on Twitter.

Rohit Sharma was selected Team India's T20I captain on Tuesday, ahead of New Zealand's visit for a bilateral series, which begins on November 17 in Jaipur with the first of three T20Is.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently announced a 16-man squad for the series against New Zealand. After finishing third in Group 2 behind Pakistan and New Zealand, India was eliminated from the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli, who was captaining the squad across formats, announced ahead of the showpiece event that he will resign the T20I captaincy after the T20 World Cup in the UAE, citing workload issues.

On Tuesday, India crushed Namibia by nine wickets in Kohli's final T20 match as captain.


As Kohli is rested for T20I series, Rohit Sharma will command the squad for the three matches, with KL Rahul as vice-captain.


"For the forthcoming T20I series against New Zealand, the All-India Senior Selection Committee has named a 16-man squad. India will play three Twenty20 Internationals beginning November 17th, 2021 "On Tuesday, the BCCI issued a statement.


In a similar vein, fans rushed to Twitter to express their delight at Rohit's selection as India's T20I captain for the upcoming series against New Zealand.

In addition to the three Twenty20 Internationals, India will host New Zealand at two Tests in Kanpur and Mumbai. India's Test squad, on the other hand, has still to be announced for the two-match series.
