“Unable to defeat him on his own, Harry entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an adventurous team of wizards, witches, and one courageous Muggle baker on a perilous expedition, where they battle Grindelwald's expanding legion of followers and meet ancient and new monsters. But how long can Dumbledore stay on the sidelines when the stakes are so high?”

Variety claimed that “Harry Potter” director David Yates will return to film the third film.

JK Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts" is a prequel spin-off film franchise based in the same Wizarding World as "Harry Potter."

Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), a magizoologist who becomes a confidant of a young Albus Dumbledore, will be featured by Jude Law, amid the rise of the totalitarian Grindelwald.

Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, and Jessica Williams include the cast.

After Johnny Depp's departure from the series, Mads Mikkelsen will take over as Grindelwald. Following the revelation that he had lost his libel lawsuit against a British tabloid that published a story in 2018 saying he was a "wife beater," Warner Bros. requested him to step down as the dark lord Grindelwald, a role he performed in the first two "Fantastic Beasts" films.

Steve Kloves, who worked on several of the first "Harry Potter" films, is co-writing the script for the third "Fantastic Beasts" picture alongside Rowling, who made headlines last year for her remarks against transgender people.
