The body of a 16-year-old girl missing since Saturday morning was recovered from a sugarcane field in the Barkheda Pilibhit village in Uttar Pradesh. The victim was missing since November 14 morning when she was gone for tuition. The girl’s parents filed a complaint with the local police after she didn’t return till late at night.

The victim was a class 12 student and has been said to be murdered after being gang-raped. The accused took the girl to the field and raped her by stuffing a cloth piece in her mouth. Then after committing the crime, the accused strangled the girl to death to hide the incident. Her body was found late Saturday night in a field located 500 meters from her house. Further, her books, cycle, bag and shoes were recovered from some more distance. The police have also discovered four beer bottles, snacks and cigarette pieces from the spot.

There are injury marks all over the victim’s body, drenched in blood, while the police are suspecting the involvement of more than two people in the case.

The girl’s family have accused the police of negligence.

The police has registered a case against an unknown person based on the complaint of the deceased family under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO act.

Shedding more light on the case, Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar stated that the victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem and teams have been told to inquire into the matter.

However, the deceased’s father has alleged that the police had forcibly taken his daughter’s body. He also alleged that even after complaining of his missing daughter, the police filed a case of kidnapping and did not search for her whereabouts and told him that they would look into the matter on Sunday morning.

When the police didn’t put any effort in searching for the victim, the girl’s family went on to locate her in the nearby fields, when late at night the girl’s brother found her cycle in the field. When he went a little farther, he saw the body of the girl lying naked. The police then on receiving the information of the body being found had sent the body for post-mortem.

Hemraj Verma, who was a minister in the SP government, has assured all possible help after meeting the girl's father. Verma has also accused the police and present administration of negligence. He said that even after getting the information in time, the police could not trace the girl. When the body of the girl student was found, it was sent for postmortem without the consent of the family members, which shows the police administration has turned on arbitrariness.
