Have a look at the list of holidays falling in the month of September.

Banks will remain closed in various cities across the country for four days starting from this week ahead of the festive seasons. These holidays also include the Second Saturday and Sunday. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calendar, the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi and other festivals will be celebrated in different cities, leading to the closing of bank branches. Banks will continue to remain closed from today, so customers who want to pay a visit to the bank branch will have to postpone it for the next week.

9 September 2021 - Teej (Haritalika)

Banks in Gangtok will remain shut on 9th September and 10th September owing to Teej (Haritalika) and Indrajatra respectively. All branches will remain closed.

10 September 2021, a major Hindu festival of the month is Ganesh Chaturthi, will be observed for two consecutive days. Bank branches in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur and Panaji, will be closed down as per the RBI calendar. On 10th September the country will be celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi/Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)/Vinayakar Chathurthi/Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata. 

September 11 is the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi, for which the RBI has declared a holiday in Panaji. Most operations in banks across all the cities will be affected since its second Saturday of the month. 

The banks will remain shut on September 12 as it’s a Sunday. 

All the banks will observe closure on public holidays while on certain holidays it may differ from state to state.

Out of the total 12 holidays in September month, this will be the longest extended when the banks will remain to be shut down for four days, which also includes the Second, fourth Saturday that will fall on 25th September and 19 and 26 is on Sunday. The RBI has categorised the bank holidays under three brackets - Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act; Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
