An FIR has been registered against former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh in Haryana over his 'casteist remark' during an Instagram live session from 2020 with Rohit Sharma. The comment was considered disrespectful to the Dalit community.

An advocate from Haryana's Hisar had filed a police complaint against Yuvraj and after eight months Haryana police has registered the FIR now.

As per India Today, the Hansi police station of Hisar has lodged a case under Sections 153, 153A, 295, 505 of IPC, besides sections 3 (1) (r) and 3 (1) (s) of the SC/ST Act.

During the live session, Yuvraj used the word 'b***gi' while referring to Indian spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Thereafter, the cricketer was heavily criticised for his rude remarks.

"Yeh b***gi log ko kaam nahi hai yeh Yuzi aur isko (Kuldeep)," - Yuvraj had told Rohit while speaking about Chahal's TikTok videos.

"Yuzi ko dekha kya video daala hai apni family ke saath. Maine usko wahi bola ki apne baap ko nacha raha hai, pagal toh nahi hai tu," Rohit had replied.

Yuvraj issues apologies

After being slammed on social media for his disrespectful comments, Yuvraj had apologised and said he never supports discriminations.

"This is to clarify I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception," Yuvraj said.
