Fulfilling your dreams takes continuous dedication and hard work and this son of an auto-rickshaw driver from Visakhapatnam has shown that perseverance can lead you to success. G Gopinath has become a commissioned officer in the Indian Air Force.

G Gopinadh was designated the post of a Flying Officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the graduation ceremony which was held on Saturday at the Air Force Academy at Dundigal in Hyderabad.

G Suri Babu, Gopinadh's father who lives in the SOG Nagar in Arilova, has been working as an auto driver for the past 25 years. Despite the financial constraints, Suri Babu worked day and night to educate his son and make ways for him to achieve the ambition of joining IAF. His efforts paid off when Gopinath won coveted pips of Flying Officer and President's Commissioning into the IAF at the combined graduation parade.

Suri Babu had asked Gopinath to do engineering for which he was ready to go for a loan. However, Gopinadh went against his fathers wish and joined IAF.

Gopinath was inspired by his grandfather who was a sepoy in the Indian Army.

After completing his intermediate from Vizag Defence College, Gopinadh initially joined IAF as an airman. He has done his graduation from Dr V.S. Krishna Government Degree College in Hyderabad and his post-graduation in Andhra University.

Despite all these degrees, Gopinadh's dream of becoming an officer was still there in his heart.

His dream came true when he cleared the Staff Selection Commission examination and became an IAF officer. Gopinadh is the only one from the two Telugu states - Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to be selected in the IAF this year.

Gopinadh while speaking to the media agency The New Indian Express said: "My parents have done a lot for me, and I always wanted to give them back and make them proud."

Gopinadh has a sister who works as a lecturer in a private college.

The newly designated officer recalls how his father used to sleep late at night and woke up early in the morning to pay some extra income to fulfil their wishes.
