The trial of a 41-year-old teacher charged with murdering another man, dismembering, and consuming pieces of the victim's body has begun in Germany. According to the media reports, prosecutors allege the accused met his victim, who was a 43-year-old German mechanic, on an online gay dating website last September.

The accused, Stefan R, allegedly lured Stefan Trogisch, a 44-year-old electrical construction worker, to his apartment in Berlin on September 5 last year with the intent of killing and eating him. Trogisch was reported missing by his flatmates after he failed to return home.

Trogisch's fleshless skeletal remains were discovered in several places throughout Berlin. After a passerby spotted a leg bone in a park on November 8, 2021, police used specially trained dogs to lead them from the area where the body parts were located to Stefan R.'s apartment.

Police discovered a bloody bone saw as well as chemicals used to dissolve flesh. Stefan R was taken into custody a short time later when the forensic investigation of evidence found in his flat revealed that he was responsible for Trogisch's murder and dismemberment. Bite marks were allegedly discovered on at least one of the bones, according to police.

Prosecutors presented their case against the 41-year-old middle school math and chemistry teacher in court on August 10. “Sexual murder with a base motive” is the primary charge levelled against him.

“The accused killed the victim because he intended to consume parts of the corpse and get sexual satisfaction from it,” the prosecution stated.

His lawyers told the court that R did not want to testify and that the trial should be postponed because the public prosecutor's office had not provided the court with all of the evidence in the case.

The sitting judge stated that the court will look into the situation and that the hearing has been postponed until August 17.

Stefan R, according to prosecutors, had participated in online cannibal forums under the handle "Masterbutcher79" and had conducted repeated searches on the subject. He reportedly researched to see if a man could survive having his penis amputated.
