Customers of HDFC Bank and Axis Bank are advised to prepare for temporary disruptions in digital banking services this weekend, as both banks have announced scheduled system maintenance that will impact online transactions and access to digital platforms.
HDFC bank digital services downtime on June 8
HDFC Bank has notified its customers that several key digital services will be unavailable on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM IST due to planned system maintenance. This four-hour window will affect a wide range of digital banking functions, including
- Sending or receiving money via UPI
- Accessing net banking and the mobile banking app
- Fund transfers through IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS
- Viewing or updating account details and deposits
- Merchant payments using cards or QR codes
- Instant account opening services.
During this period, customers will not be able to perform most digital transactions or check their account balances. HDFC Bank has recommended that users utilize the PayZapp app, a digital wallet that allows bill payments, online shopping, and money transfers without direct access to bank accounts or cards. Transaction limits on PayZapp are set at ₹10,000 per month for non-KYC users and ₹2 lakh per month for KYC-compliant users.
Axis bank credit card services to be unavailable on June 6
Axis Bank has also issued an alert to its credit card holders. On Friday, June 6, 2025, from 2:00 AM to 2:45 AM IST, Axis Bank credit card services will be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance. Customers will be unable to transact using Axis Bank credit cards during this 45-minute window.
What should customers do?
- Plan Ahead: Customers are encouraged to complete any urgent digital transactions before the scheduled maintenance windows to avoid inconvenience.
- Use Alternatives: HDFC Bank customers can use the PayZapp app for essential payments during the downtime.
- Expect Delays: Failed transactions, delayed refunds, and inability to receive funds via UPI may occur. Small businesses and freelancers who rely on instant payments should be particularly cautious.
Why is this happening?
Both banks are conducting these maintenance activities to upgrade their systems and enhance the efficiency and security of their digital platforms.
In summary, HDFC Bank’s digital services, including UPI and net banking, will be down for four hours early June 8, while Axis Bank credit card services will be briefly unavailable early June 6. Customers should plan their transactions accordingly and use recommended alternatives like PayZapp during the affected periods.
