“I am her mate, not master”: Irfan Pathan reacts to criticism over wife’s ‘blurred’ pic

In a tweet, Irfan Pathan explained that his wife chose to have her face blurred.

Irfan Pathan, a former Indian all-rounder, has responded to criticism and hate tweets about a blurry photo of his wife Safa Baig. Irfan's wife's face was blurred in a picture posted on his son's Instagram account, prompting accusations that the Baroda cricketer is refusing to let her show her face. To this, the 36-year-old clarified that blurring his wife's face is her decision, adding, “I’m her mate not here master”.


Irfan tweeted from his account, “This picture is posted by my queen from my son’s account. We are getting lot of hate. Let me post this here as well. She blurred this pic by her choice. And Yes, I’m her mate not her master”.

During the second wave of Covid-19 in India, Irfan and his brother Yusuf have been assisting the poor with food, oxygen cylinders, ventilators and oxygen concentrators.  The donation is made through the Pathan Foundation, which is run by the brothers.

Irfan has also been involved on Twitter, where he has expressed his views on issues such as Palestine. He also retweeted a few tweets about the topic from international cricketers. Kangana Ranaut, a Bollywood star, chastised him for his tweet on Palestine.

Irfan had previously contracted the virus following the Road Safety World Series 2020-21. He was asymptomatic at the time and was able to recover at home. He appeared in seven games and took seven wickets while scoring 126 runs in three innings. He was successful in helping India Legends win by 14 runs in the tournament final, taking two wickets against Sri Lanka Legends.
