Air India and IndiGo have officially cancelled flights to and from some of the major Indian cities along the India-Pakistan border for Tuesday.

IndiGo has also reportedly cancelled flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot.

"Due to the recent events and considering your safety, the flights from and to Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot are cancelled on 13th May. We will update you with the latest events," Air India said on SpaceX.

IndiGo also made the same announcement, that flight cancellations were made "In consideration of the recent events and with your safety at our utmost concern."

The carrier further added, "We understand how this would impact your travel schedule and apologize for the disruption. Our teams keep a close eye on the situation and will inform you at the earliest of any further updates."

The affected airports had opened to civilian air traffic on Monday after having closed temporarily during heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) had already ordered the resumption of civilian operations at 32 airports, and this was to persist till May 15.

Adhampur, Ambala, Awantipur, Bathinda, Halwara, Bikaner, Hindon, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Jaisalmer, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Sarsawa, Shimla, Thoise, and Uttarlai are some of the airports opened for civilian flight operations.

The airports had started operating only two days ago when India and Pakistan jointly agreed to a ceasefire to stop military action with effect from immediately.

But in the wake of PM Modi's speech last night, during which he warned Pakistan of terrorism and any kind of misadventure, drones were seen over Jalandhar in Punjab. Following this incident, Air India and IndiGo have issued safety protocols.

Reportedly, the Indigo flight scheduled to land at Amritsar airport at 9:10 pm has been sent back to Delhi. The flight did not land here. Citing the reason as a district-wide blackout at the time.
