Soth Africa on Wednesday defeated Team India by 31 runs and took a lead of 1-0 in the three match ODI series at the Boland Park, Paarl. Temba Bavuma & Co. carried forward their confidence from the Test series win against India and  put the 'Men in Blue' under immense pressure in the first ODI. For India, opener Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli looked in great touch, however the visitors could not held their nerves and kept losing wickets at important interval of the match. Despite losing the first ODI, Team India's former skipper Virat Kohli's half-century helped him surpass his idol Sachin Tendulkar and register another record under his belt.

Virat Kohli's 51 runs on Wednesday in first ODI made him India's highest run-getter in away ODIs. After scoring 9 runs, the 33-year-old cricketer went past 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar who had scored 5,065 runs in the away ODIs for the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Sachin Tendulkar had 5065 runs in 147 innings, but Kohli overtook him in just 104 innings with a solid average of 58 to Tendulkar’s 37. The 33-year-old batter is followed by former India captain MS Dhoni (4520 runs in 124 inns), Rahul Dravid (currently Team India's Head Coach) (3998 runs in 110 inns), and Sourav Ganguly (Currently BCCI President) (3468 runs in 105 inns).

However, 'King Kohli' could not break the hoodoo of not able to score a century. Virat has not been able to score a ton from the past 2 years and not being able to score a century is among the various reasons why the Delhi-based cricketer has been under the heat of social media and even with the BCCI.
