India vs England: PM Modi invited, Fans to be allowed inside stadium for Motera Tests

The Test series between India and England will begin in Chennai from 5 February.

The test match between India and England, starting in Ahmedabad on February 24, has allowed spectators to come. The match will be played at the newly built Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium in Motera. The Test series between India and England will begin in Chennai from 5 February. The match will be played at the empty stadium. Apart from this, spectators will be allowed to come to the second match with 50 percent capacity. 

Going by the reports of ANI, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official on Monday confirmed that fans will be allowed to come in for the Test matches. He said., "Yes, in what comes as a welcome sign for hundreds of our cricket loving fans, they will be allowed to come into the stadium for the Motera test."

On being asked if PM Narendra Modi has also been invited, the official hinted that it is possible that PM will visit the Motera stadium during the fourth test.

Recently,  the Sports Ministry had amended its Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) and stadiums were allowed to operate at full capacity following COVID-19 protocols. 

A senior Tamil Nadu Cricket Association official on the capacity of fans for the second test said that the secretary RS Ramasaamy will speak to BCCI on Monday and only then a decision will be made and so far no talks have happened.

The first and second Test between India and England will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
