On Friday, Shikhar Dhawan led-team India locked their horns with Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI match which was scheduled at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The coin was flipped in the favor of team India around 2:45 pm and the Indian skipper decided to bat first, but the game was bagged by Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the third ODI by 3 wickets (DSL). India still won the series by 2-1.

Sri Lanka spinners played well and the projected score was just 225 runs. The game was delayed due to rain and the number of overs was reduced to 47 overs per side. Sri Lanka needed 226 runs in 278 balls.
