The government of India has recently announced a drastic change in the process of getting a passport. The authorities have introduced a change which will allow the individuals to receive their passports at the comfort of their homes and they do not have to stand outside the government offices.
According to the latest update, the people who want to get a passport can book an online appointment and they will get their passport through a van service. It is worth mentioning that the paper verification will be held at home only.
The Passport Van Service -
The Government of India has launched a new digital service, named Passport Van Service. Under this service, an individual does not have to visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) for passport verification and will be able to receive their passports through a van service.
It is to be noted that the van will be equipped with the complete system of biometric machine, camera and document scanning. An official will reach the mentioned location and will perform the required procedure. It is to be noted that this service will be useful for old-aged people, people with disability and busy professionals and people living away from the Passport Seva Kendra.
Step to apply -
According to the latest update by the passport authorities, an individual can apply for this passport van service -
Step 1: Visit the passport service portal at www.passportindia.gov.in.
Step 2: Register as a new user and they register.
Step 3: Select the “Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue”
Step 4: Fill the given form with the correct information and click submit.
Step 5: Upload the documents and verify the same.
Step 6: Book an appointment and they go to the Mobile Passport Seva.
Step 7: Book an appointment and select either “Mobila Passport Seva” or “Doorstep Service” option.
Step 8: Click ‘Submit’ and select the available time and date slot.
