Underlining the state's massive investment potential, Punjab Industries & Commerce Minister Gurkirat Singh on Monday urged the investors to invest and leverage the present opportunities in sectors like Agro-processing, Pharmaceuticals, Iron & Steel, Health, Education and Manufacturing. 


“The Punjab Government will organise the 4th edition of the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit, which will offer a peek into the wide ranging opportunities for creating and nurturing businesses in the state,” said Gurkirat Singh, while extending his invitation for the Summit to be held on October 26 and 27, 2021. The Summit will be held virtually with pan India industry leaders and will have a special State Session in the industrial capital of the state at Ludhiana on October 27.


The Minister was chairing a meeting with the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations, and Officers at Udyog Bhawan here to review the preparations of the upcoming Progressive Punjab Investors Summit.

Industries Minister Gurkirat Singh, while terming Industry as the backbone of every state said that concerted efforts had been made in the last four and half years to strengthen the industry in Punjab by bringing the investment.


“Now, I have been given the responsibility of the Industries, I will not leave any stone unturned to bring maximum industry in the state, which will not only help in generating employment but will also give a boost to the economy,” he said.


The Minister said that he will also request the Central Government to provide special packages and incentives to the industries in the state. 


He also asked the officials to see feasible options to set-up a Land Bank for establishing industries in the state, so that investors interested in setting up their ventures in the state won’t face any hassle in getting the land at an appropriate place.

Meanwhile, the Industries Minister also visited the office of Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC) and assured Chairman Krishan Kumar Bawa to further strengthen the PSIDC, which plays a vital role in development of industries.


On the occasion, PSIEC Chairman Gurpreet Bassi, PSIDC Chairman Krishan Kumar Bawa, Chairman Punjab Large Industrial Development Board Pawan Dewan, Chairman Punjab Infotech Corporation SMS Sandhu, Chairman Punjab Medium Industrial Development Board Amarjit Singh Tikka and Vice-Chairman Suresh Gogia, Vice Chairman Punjab Khadi and Village Industry Major Singh Bhaini, Director Infotech Manjit Singh Saroya, Amrao Singh and Hardeep Singh Grewal among other prominent were present.
