Satish Kumar has won the hearts of many after losing the quarter-finals and people are all over social media congratulating him for his victorious performance, and the brave decision he took to fight even after having got 13 stitches. Born in Uttar Pradesh, this man risks his life for this country, India.

So here are some interesting facts about Satish Kumar:

1. He is the first Indian super heavyweight boxer to reach Olympics under the 91 kg category.

2. He belongs to a farming family and had no plans of joining sports.

3. His dream was to be a part of the Indian Army, and served the nation as a Sepoy.

6. He entered boxing officially at the age of 21 but started training at 19 years.

7. The first medal won by him was silver in 2011 at the Senior National Boxing Championships held in Chennai.
