IPL 2021: Captain cool delays his return to Ranchi till other CSK players depart
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former India captain, and CSK skipper, has told his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammates that he will be the last person to board the flight back to India. Dhoni has mentioned that he will wait for the foreigners to leave first, followed by the other Indian players, before returning home from the team's base in Delhi.
Dhoni said in a virtual meeting with his teammates that because the IPL is taking place in India, international players and support staff should be given priority in travelling to their homes abroad. The Indian team's players will return home later.
“Mahibhai said he would be the last person to check out of the hotel. He desired that the foreigners quit first, followed by the Indian players. When everyone is safe and secure, he will take the last flight tomorrow,” a member of CSK told The Indian Express.
Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Sam Billings, Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, and Jason Roy arrived in London for a 10-day quarantine before returning home. After several COVID-19 cases in its bio-bubble, the league was suspended indefinitely on Tuesday. Eoin Morgan, Dawid Malan, and Chris Jordan, England's captain, are scheduled to fly to London within the next 48 hours.
