In a massive development coming from the ongoing IPL 2022, Ravindra Jadeja on Saturday stepped down from the skipper role of the Chennai Super Kings  (CSK) and handed over the captaincy back to the veteran MS Dhoni. CSK on Saturday took to its Twitter handle and shared an announcement saying that Ravindra Jadeja has handed over the CSK captaincy back to MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni had relinquished his captaincy for thinking about the future of the CSK and handed it to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the IPL 2022. However, Ravindra Jadeja could not fill the boots of MS Dhoni, and CSK is currently having a dismal run in the IPL 2022. The in-form Ravindra Jadeja after taking over as CSK Captain could not deliver with the bat and also his strategy was criticised by the cricket pundits in the IPL 2022.

As per the official announcement, MS Dhoni will continue as CSK skipper for the 'larger interest' and allow Jadeja to play his natural game after relieving him from the role of skipper.

CSK's performance in IPL 2022

Talking about CSK's performance in IPL 2022, the 'Men in Yellow' could not repeat their last year's performance with the change in leadership. In fact, under the leadership of Ravindra Jadeja, CSK lost 6 out of their 8 matches. In IPL 2022 points table, Chennai is placed second last i.e. on 9th position meaning its almost impossible for the CSK to qualify for playoffs.
