A shocking case of public violence has surfaced in Goraya, Jalandhar, where a young businessman was assaulted twice in broad daylight—allegedly by his own friends. The incident has gone viral on social media, raising pressing concerns about public safety and the effectiveness of police intervention.
Victim speaks out
Satinder Singh, owner of Sunny Transport and resident of Atta village, claims he was first attacked in Ludhiana and then again outside the Goraya court, where he had gone to file a police complaint. “Pehle dosti thi, ab gundagardi ban gayi hai,” Satinder told reporters, describing how his friendship with the accused had turned violent.
Accused linked to IPL cricketer’s family
The accused have been identified as Jimmy and Lavish Oberoi. Notably, Lavish Oberoi is engaged to Komal Sharma, the sister of Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma. This family connection has drawn additional public attention to the case.
Details of the assault
Satinder alleges that Jimmy had previously fired at his vehicle and was pressuring him to withdraw a police complaint. The first physical assault occurred at Palak Restaurant in Ludhiana, where Lavish called Satinder outside before he and Jimmy began beating him. Hours later, Satinder was attacked again outside the Goraya court after attempting to seek police help.
Further aggravating the situation, the accused allegedly filmed both assaults and circulated the videos on social media using fake accounts. Satinder claims that Lavish, who used to borrow his cars for shooting Instagram reels, turned violent after Satinder refused further requests for his vehicles.
Police response and public outcry
Initially, Satinder says police took no action. However, after the assault videos went viral and public outrage mounted, an FIR was registered against Jimmy and Lavish. The case is currently under investigation, with locals calling it a wake-up call for authorities to address digital bullying and public violence more seriously.
Background on family ties
Komal Sharma, Abhishek Sharma’s sister, got engaged to Lavish Oberoi a few months ago. This connection has brought the incident into the spotlight, given Abhishek Sharma’s prominence as an IPL cricketer.
The case highlights how personal disputes, when fueled by social media and digital content creation, can escalate into serious violence—and underscores the urgent need for stronger police action and public safeguards.
