In a breakthrough, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police today busted a gang of fraudsters who were indulged in the sale-purchase of luxury cars using fake documents.

Disclosing more information, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that on a tip-off that a gang was operating to dupe people by selling them luxury cars on fake papers, the special team of CIA-1 launched a crackdown to put its activities to an end.

He stated that four members of the gang were arrested by the CIA team, who were identified as Jashandeep Singh a resident of Tower Enclave, Phase-2, Kamal Gill resident of Nangalshama, Gaurav resident of New Baldev Nagar, and Kanwalpreet Singh a resident of village Bhullar Athwal, Gurdaspur district.

The CP further added that a total of six luxurious cars including one Creta, two Kia Seltos, two Ford Eco sports, two scooters Active and Yamaha Fascino, and one smart TV have been recovered from the accused.

Revealing about the modus Operandi of the group, Mr. Bhullar said that one of the gang members namely Gaurav was working in a car showroom Nauvelty Ford at Pathankot Road who led the gang into these corrupt practices while accused Kamal Gill has been group leader. He further stated that they have purchased several luxury cars on bank loans based on forged documents and sold these in different states and dupe people by selling them mortgaged vehicles at lower prices.

He mentioned that raids were on to arrest another member namely Katial, who was the kingpin of this gang.

Mr. Bhullar mentioned that the accused had assigned various duties among them as accused Jashandeep used to sell these cars to customers, Kamal Gill would get fake documents prepared to get bank loans on the vehicles while Gaurav who was working at Novelty Ford company was playing a key role to get the loan sanctioned from banks/finance companies using fake documents, and the fourth accused Kamalpreet Singh used to prepare fake documents of recently purchased cars to be able to sell them to new customers at lower prices.

The CP said that the police would produce these gang members in the court, where necessary police remand would be sought to further investigate the other gang members and recover vehicles purchased and sold by this gang so far.

While lauding the efforts of the CIA-1 team, he announced the reward for team members who worked tirelessly to bust this gang.
