Jalandhar hits 46°C, and no rain is expected before THIS date; IMD issues yellow alert

The major cities of Punjab, including Jalandhar, have been witnessing immense heatwaves and increased temperatures. According to the reports by the Indian Meteorological Department, recently, the city of Jalandhar witnessed an increased temperature touching around 46°C, and there is no immediate relief from this intense heat. 


According to the latest update, there are no chances of rainfall or thunderstorms in the upcoming days, and it is to be noted that there will be no relief from the scorching conditions. 


Recently, the authorities have issued a Yellow Alert for Jalandhar, and they have advised the residents and citizens to stay safe and follow all the precautions as the warm weather will be persistent across the region during the night time also. 


Notably, the city will be witnessing scattered clouds, but the weather will remain extremely hot, and scorching heat will be reported. 


Possible rain relief - 


The authorities have mentioned that the city will see rainfall and light thunderstorms in Jalandhar during the end of this week, i.e., around June 14 and June 15, but this relief will be short temporary relief.

When will the monsoon knock on the doors of Punjab? 


It is expected that this time, the monsoon will hit the country 10 days after the usual days as it has already reached central Maharashtra, covering South India. After this pause on June 2, it is expected that the monsoon will become active again around June 13 and start moving forward. If the monsoon progresses in a normal way, then pre-monsoon rains may start around June 25.
