Following the reports of drone sightings in the nearby region, the Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar Dr Himanshu Aggarwal announced that some areas will witness blackouts as a precautionary measure.
An official statement has been issued by DC Jalandhar in which he has informed the public about the blackout and has also urged them to stay calm and avoid panicking.
The official statement by DC Jalandhar read, “As a precautionary measure, lights have been switched off in some areas around Suranassi as there have been reports of some drone sightings. We are verifying them. There is no blackout as of now. There is nothing to worry as confirmed by officials of the Armed Forces. They are on regular vigil as always.”
He has also outlined that the situation has been closely monitored by the district administration and armed forces. It was also clarified that as of now there is no threat or disruption reported and this step has been only taken to ensure the safety of the public, which is considered to be the utmost priority of the authorities.
Along with Jalandhar, blackouts for safety purposes have only been announced in Amritsar and Hosiarpur.
