The Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jalandhar(MCJ) along with district health department on Wednesday conducted a surprisecheck at Cake House (bakery shop) here in Model Town, Jalandhar.
A citation was issued to the business for having SinghUse Plastic/Polythene bags and not segregating wet and dry waste.
The Bags were then confiscated by the municipalcorporation.
“A consistent drive of checking should be done on regularbasis by the corporation to enforce the ban on plastic/polythene bags belowcertain microns”, said residents.
Joint Commissioner MCJ asked the businesses to refrainfrom buying these bags as a cheap alternative and invest in either cloth,compostable or paper bags to save environment.
