Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, a significant development has emerged from a border city in Punjab. The Deputy Commissioner has ordered a complete blackout from 9 PM to 5 AM — a total of 8 hours — to be observed daily. During this period, no lights are allowed to remain on.
The official document bearing the notice reads as
Due to the sensitive environment on the Indo-Pak border, as per the directives of the Government of India and the Government of Punjab, there will be a complete blackout in District Gurdaspur from 08.05.2025 until further orders.
This order will not apply in Central Jail Gurdaspur and Hospitals, but this department will ensure that the windows of Central Jail Gurdaspur and Hospitals are kept closed from 9.00 pm to 5.00 am the next day and cover them well so that no light can come out.
The directive will remain in effect until further notice.
