The situation is still tense along the Punjab border in the wake of growing tension between India and Pakistan. Pakistan has stepped up firing on the Line of Control (LoC) for the second day in a row in response to 'Operation Sindoor.' Shells and mortars are being used by the Pakistani Army in regions such as Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Akhnoor, and Poonch.
Attack on the gurudwara
In this firing, a gurudwara in Poonch was also attacked. The walls of the gurudwara were damaged, and three young Sikhs, Amrik Singh Raagi, Amarjeet Singh (ex-army), and Ranjit Singh (shopkeeper), were martyred due to retaliatory fire.
But even this didn't make the Sikh community lose hope.
Dropping the fear, the Gurudwara was reopened for the devotees on Thursday, where Ardaas began. The people's unshaken faith and trust have provided a befitting response to the Pakistan government's ill intentions. In this attack, clear signs of explosions and bullets are visible on the walls of the Gurudwara.
Schools in Punjab were closed
In light of the tension, all schools within the six border districts of Punjab, Firozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Tarn Taran were closed on Thursday. Tarn Taran's Deputy Commissioner ordered all schools within the district to be closed from May 8 to May 11. Schools will continue to be closed in Firozpur for the next 72 hours and in Fazilka until further notice. Blackout was also enforced in Amritsar, and citizens were urged to remain indoors and have lights switched off.
'Operation Sindoor': reaction to Pahalgam attack
We will tell you that India launched 'Operation Sindoor' in retaliation for the terrorist strike at Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on 22 April. 26 individuals, who were mainly tourists, lost their lives in this attack. As a part of an Indian Army-Air Force-Navy joint operation, 9 terrorist camps across Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Muzaffarabad, were targeted. Markaz Subhan Allah, Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters, and the Muridke base of Lashkar-e-Taiba were among them. Over 90 terrorists were killed in these intelligence-based strikes.
Atmosphere of fear along the border
There is a sense of fear in the border regions because of constant attacks by Pakistan. Citizens in Firozpur are evacuating their homes and proceeding to secure locations. The scenario is peaceful in villages along the Amritsar and Tarn Taran borders, but farmers are not being permitted to venture to the fields beyond the prickly fence.
