In the Kotkapura police firing incident, suspended IGP Paramraj Singh Umranangal has given his written consent for Polygraph, Brain Electrical Activation Profile and Narco Analysis test.

However, former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and ex-SSP Charanjit Singh had reportedly refused to undergo narco analysis tests

Earlier, on June 11, the newly formed Special Investigation Team (SIT), in its application before the court had claimed that the suspects were evasive in their reply on the core issues during the investigation, so they needed to undergo the narco test for the probe to proceed further.

Thereafter, the court issued a notice to the three suspects to which the counsels for DGP Sumedh Saini and SSP Charanjit Singh told the court about unwillingness of their clients to undergo the tests while IGP Umranangal agreed for the test.

The court had summoned the IGP for today to get his formal consent. Meanwhile, after giving his written consent to the court, IGP Umranangal addressed the media and went all out in targeting former inspector general (IG) of Police Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh.

Talking to the media, IGP alleged that former IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap was a co-conspirator and it was necessary to register a case against him and subject him to narco tests to get to the bottom of the case.

Besides, the counsel for Umranangal said that the tests would be expectedly carried out under complete privacy, in a comfortable surrounding and in a laboratory disclosed to the IGP in advance.

Also, the counsel for Umranangal has sought an assurance that while undergoing Narco Analysis Tests the drugs used should not cause side effects as his client is a patient of hypertension, diabetes and cardiac problems.
