Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami's leaked WhatsApp chats with former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta is all set to take the center stage of another controversy. Mumbai Police had allegedly prepared 500 pages document of accessed WhatsApp chats of former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta with the controversial journalist. However, the documents were leaked online and one of the most startling revelations was he knew about India's air-strikes in advance and also said 'This attack we won like crazy' on the Pulwama terror attack.
Now, Congress veteran leaders have raised the issue which was resonating on the social media of the past few days. Congress leader and former Defence Minister AK Antony expressed his concern and raised questions on the Modi government over its silence on the leaked chats.
Antony in a press conference said, "The condense of the leaked chats between Arnab Goswami and former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta is a serious concern for the entire nation. As a very patriotic Indian, it is a shocking and serious matter of concern because it affects national security. It affects the security of our armed forces especially in this case security of our brave air warriors."
"The way they mention about the martyrdom of 40 brave CRPF men, there is a serious concern to us. You know in India, there are differences among people and political parties on almost every issue but when it comes to national security then India is one. Now, it is very clear that classified documents considering the national security and also the most sensitive secrets of airstrikes were with people who were not authorized. The way the leaked chats, the language Arnab used, on the martyrdom of 40 CRPF men, I am very sad and shocked. Three days before the Balakot airstrikes, how one journalist came to know the details of the airstrikes. It would have affected the operations. I don't know if it affected or not. Only 4 or 5 people are expected to know the details of the military operations. Not even the cabinet ministers are supposed to know about this, only a handful of people. This information was leaked not to the entire media but to only one journalist. These were leaked by either ministers or one of two senior officials as military people will not leak this. Even leaking an official secret is a criminal act. Leaking the official secret of a military operation is treason."
Antony in the end demanded a proper panel should be set up to start the investigation.
