Ludhiana, May 21: To immediately address the calls of thedistress caused by a devastating second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in ruralareas, the administration has set up a dedicated 24-hour Covid control room inthe Government Girls' College, Bharat Nagar Chowk, here, and started anexclusive helpline 0161-2403111 for the villagers to assist them in any kind ofissue related to Covid. 

Inaugurating the control room and helpline, DeputyCommissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that this control room would be workingdedicatedly for the rural population and they can call on 0161-2403111 for anykind of assistance or query regarding Covid-19.

He said that this control room and helpline would beoperated 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He said that a team of doctors,counselors, teachers, and trained youths have been deputed to run the war roomto solve the issue promptly. 

He told that this is an expansion of already functioningcontrol room set up earlier and providing COVID-19-related information, includingthe availability of beds, oxygen support in hospitals, counseling, Fateh kits,ration assistance, and others, to cater to those who need guidance for last oneyear. 

Sharma told that district administration is fully geared upto meet any situation arising due to Covid 19 pandemic and there is not adearth of resources including sufficient availability of oxygen and othernecessary drugs.

He said that the teams of the health department are visitingalmost all villages to cover the maximum beneficiaries under its vaccinationdrive and called the people to accept the vaccine wholeheartedly without anydoubt. Reiterating the people not to take fever, cough, cold, sore throat, bodyache lightly and immediately get tested for Covid, he said that early treatmentwould help to tackle the pandemic effectively and save precious lives. 

He said that the administration needs the active support ofthe public to conquer the deadly second wave of Covid-19. He also urged thepeople to exercise restraint and not get panic due to any reason besidesstrictly adhering to norms of social distancing, masking, and hand hygiene. 

On the occasion, ADC General Amarjeet Singh, ADC KhannaSakkatar Singh Bal, and others were present.
