The President of Karnataka’s Congress Committee Satish Jharkholi has made the headlines with his shockingly controversial remarks on the word Hindu sparking massive backlash.

In its recent public appearance, Jharkholi went on to say that the word “Hindu” is not even Indian, by noting that the term originates from Persia and hence has no association with India. Adding further to his controversial statement he went on to say that it is the word enforced on us by the people who invaded the country and it is a matter of grave concern and not respectful if we use it.

The video of his statement has gone viral on social media where he attends a gathering while giving the controversial remark.

The statement from the Congress MLA has come out as a massive opportunity and has drawn a flank of sharp criticism by the Hindu right-wing outfits of the country. Over the course of his speech, Jharkholi went on to say, "It must be deliberated, where did this word come from, it has been forced upon us, why are we paying so much value to it."

BJP senior leader Shehzad Poonawala went on to respond through a tweet leaving a sharp comment on the Congress leader’s remarks, he wrote, Senior BJP leader Shehzad Poonwalla took to Twitter to slam the remarks made by Jarkiholi and said the video provokes and insults Hindus. “This is not a Sanyog but a Votebank Ka Udyog. From Hindu terror to Opposing Ram Mandir to Linking Gita with Jihad."

This remark will be taken as a huge opportunity by the BJP on the run to the upcoming Hindu majoritarian Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections. On the bizarre front over the matter, the remark has come amidst Congress’ ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ which is being seen as a desperate attempt by the grand old party to mark its revival by bringing people from across the faith altogether.
